Orchestrated by CERES (Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies) alongside the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the statement was signed by 44 investors including BNPP AM, for whom the preservation of natural capital constitutes a priority of its corporate commitment.
The increase in cattle breeding is not without consequences on the preservation of our planet. Through this statement, investors with around 6.4tr$ of assets under management, call on companies sourcing beef and related cattle products in order to change business practices that contribute to deforestation and its ensuing negative climate impact.
“Cattle breeding has been one of the largest drivers of deforestation, especially in Latin America. We expect companies to demonstrate commitment to eliminating deforestation within their supply chains.” says Robert-Alexandre Poujade, ESG Analyst from BNPP AM.
